Meet the Director

Trained as an art historian at Indiana and George Washington Universities, Ted Cooper, owner of Adams Davidson, is a nationally known and highly respected authority on Nineteenth and early Twentieth century American and European art.

He has served on the IRS Art Advisory Panel, as local President of the American Society of Appraisers, and served 8 years as President of the Art Dealers Association of Greater Washington. Ted is extensively involved with the art community in Washington and frequently gives talks about art and the appraisal profession. He has authored over 20 published catalogues on American art, and has been on the faculty at George Washington University for many years.

Ted is a Certified Appraiser of the Appraisers Association of America, an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers, a Senior Member of the International Institute of Valuers, a Member of La Confédération International des Négociants en Oeuvres d'Art, a Member of the Art Dealers Association of America, and a board member of the Art Dealers Association of Greater Washington.

His appraisal work has included assignments at The White House, The National Gallery of Art, The National Portrait Gallery, The National Museum of American Art, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, United States Department of State, Diplomatic Reception Rooms & Blair House, Monticello, The Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Charlottesville, Virginia, The New York Historical Society, New York, N.Y., and The World Bank, Washington, D.C.
