About the Gallery

For nearly 40 years, Adams Davidson Galleries has been a nationally known dealer in American art of the Nineteenth and early Twentieth centuries, with a special emphasis on important paintings, drawings and sculpture by American artists from the Revolution to the New Deal, from Gilbert Stuart to Edward Hopper.

More recently we have offered exceptional European paintings from the 16th - 19th centuries. We are driven by a passion for finding those works of art which reveal artists at the pinnacle of their genius. Over the years, the gallery has sold important pictures to over thirty leading American museums and countless discriminating collectors.

Through our efforts, many private, corporate and museum collections have been built or enhanced. Recent sales have included premier examples of works by Bierstadt, Cassatt, Cole, Church, Eakins, Heade, Hassam, Homer, Hopper, Peale, Prendergast, Rockwell, Sargent, Whittredge and the Wyeths. Among notable offerings in the European field have been extraordinary works by Titian, Leger, Matisse, Moore, Cranach, Van Goyen, Constable, Seurat, Monet, Bonnard and Picasso.

For every work of art, the gallery staff of 5 professional art historians conducts an exacting process of research, authentication and documentation. Our work is rooted in scholarship.

We provide a guarantee of authenticity with every artwork offered for sale, including provenance, exhibition history and literary references, so that each client is assured not only of the quality of the artwork, but of its place in art history.

So whether you are considering your first purchase or are adding to your collection, we warmly invite you to contact Adams Davidson Galleries and welcome the opportunity to guide and support you in acquiring works of art which best reflect your taste and purpose.
